Jochen and Anja have worked hard to buy a house into which they are now moving with their son, Olivier. When Jichen's father, Richard, is accidentally knocked down by a car, his family realizes he is suffering from Alzheimer's and can't live on his own anymore. Until then, Jochen had maintained a certain distance from his father, who had treated him harshly during his childhood. Anja gives up her job to look after the old man full time, but he refuses any help. Things go from bad to worse quickly. Exhausted, Jochen is less and less efficient in his job and his relations with his wife and son are embittered. One again, an event upsets the family harmony, and Jochen must face up to the contradictory feelings that have shake him badly.
