Mehinaku, mensagem da Amazônia
Photographer Vito D’Alessio, director Renato Dutra and the specialist of indigenous cultures Paulo Pinagé spent four years in Alto Xingu, in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso, to study the life and culture of the Mehinaku —the most isolated indigenous community in that region. In this documentary, writer-director Maria Inès Landgraf shows aspects of daily life among the Mehinaku—how they share work and domestic tasks, what they eat, how they fish. Myths and language are an important part of this documentary. The Mehinaku speak their own language, the Aruak.
