La Terra PromessaThe Promised Land
To answer the key question about any possible peace between Israel and Palestine, the film's starting point is the everyday life in the occupied West Bank with queues at checkpoints, blockades, people compelled to cross through the mud, houses knocked down by bulldozers, arrogance and violence. But, through remarkable editing of archive materials, it also retraces the memory of that contested land. The key to approaching these events without prejudice is provided by Amira Hass, an Israeli reporter who has been working for 10 years in the occupied territories as a correspondent of the newspaper Ha'aretz. She is the only foreign journalist who has decided to live in Palestine and is regarded by the prestigious Internet Press Institute as one of the « 50 press freedom heroes ».
