La Légende de Rose Al-Youssef
In Egypt in the late 19th century, women were hidden behind their veils. They were just barely permitted to work as servants, singers and dancers. In other words, they had an inferior place in society, when they were not outsiders. At this time, a 12-year-old girl named Rose Al Youssef, arrived in Cairo. She had escaped a boat from Tripoli, the last port of call before an uncertain future. Little did she imagine the legendary role she was to play in the history of modern Egypt.
