A traveling theatre company use music to tell the story of Peter the Great, one of the great European monarchs, Czar of Russia. Wishing to live among the people, Peter the Great worked incognito as a laborer in a Baltic port. He lodged at the house of the shipyard owner, where he met the young serving girl, Catherine, a Lithuanian widow. Peter fell in love with her and married her. She became Catherine the Great, empress of Russia.
