Giacomo Puccini is probably the last great composer in the long tradition of Italian opera. Using documentary illustrations and staged and choreographed movements of certain arias for voice and piano inspired by the cinema of the times, this film evokes the life and work of Puccini: his bohemian years in Milan; the making of his great operas and the orientalist fashion; his love life, which ended tragically; his political associations, with fascism in particular.
