L'Horizon glacé
Mike Horn is preparing the Arktos expedition, a solitary 12,400-mile trek around the Arctic Circle via the North Pole. The marathon man of the ice will travel on foot, towing a 440 lb. sled full of rations and survival equipment specially developed and tested for the occasion. The starting point: Sredny, latitude 80° north, Russia's most northerly weather base. As he conducts a last-minute check, Horn is increasingly tense. One final look and, as friends and family watch, he vanishes over the horizon of this desert of ice.
