L'Enfance du Christ
Based on the biblical story of King Herod's Murder of the Innocents, this is one of Berlioz' most beautiful large-scale choral works, which includes the famous Shepherd's Chorus. L'Enfance du Christ is pervaded with atmospheric tenderness and simplicity. This spectacular performance was recorded in the in Llandaff Cathedral in Wales, in November 2002, to mark the bicentennial of Berlioz's birth. With the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, conducted by Richard Hickox, featuring soloists Pamela Helen Stephen, John Mark Ainsley, Matthew Best, Gilles Cachemaille.
