So far, there never has been a specific interest taken in the sexual aspects of life in jail... the reason being that sexual intercourse is forbidden behind bars. Our film thus deals with an extremely sensitive area of prison policies. Everybody knows that sexual activity does not stop with imprisonment but rather that it evolves, as years go by, into a guilty - and even sometimes violent - deterioration. This documentary shows, through the itinerary of several "long-term sentence" prisoners, how the deprivation of sexuality makes the penalty heavier to bear and how positive emotional relationships may turn into a stabilizing factor or even into a way leading to social rehabilitation. In the making of his film, director Alain-Michel BLANC undertook a close relationship with a certain amount of long-term sentence prisoners, so as to have them speak freely on a subject which still is taboo within the walls of a jail. For more than two years, he has written to them and regularly called on them, in France as well as in Canada, to gain their trust and confidence and collect the very moving testimonies that make up this film.
