Kaddim Wind - Moroccan Chronicle
The story of Moroccan Jewry in Israel as seen by six characters, all second generation immigrants. They relate their personal, dramatic stories about the process of absorption, a process troubled by racism and oppression. The film begins with the momentous events of 1948 and concludes with the present as it examines the identity and history of Moroccan Jews in particular and "oriental" Jews in general. It raises the question of "oriental" identity as part of the broader question of Israeli identity. It is an acute and critical look at the failure of Zionism and the Left in Israel over the past 50 years as well the unsuccessful political and social struggles of the Moroccans and "Orientals" in the new country.
