Hungry for Monsters
In the 90s, the virus of false accusations contaminated America, causing much personal and familial damage. People were caught up in the missionary zeal of professionals determined to protect children. In 1990 and 1991, 15-year-old Nicole Althaus accused her father, mother and a couple she had never met before of sexually abusing her during a strange ritual ceremony. The inquiry, which was filmed over a period of five years, retraces the history of this Pittsburg family, afflicted by the accusations of their daughter, who claimed to remember vile crimes. It relates the experiences of Nicole, her parents and other participants in his saga of arrest, trial and reconciliation. There remain some disturbing questions that will probably never be elucidated.
