Hughes' Dream Harlem
If Langston Hughes was still alive in Harlem in 2002, he'd be collaborating with the most gifted students, poets, writers, and lyricists dwelling in New York. Shot entirely in Harlem USA, this cine poetic experience remembers the spirit, essence and works of Langston Hughes. A round table writers' conversation in the dining-room of Langston Hughes's home, a stroll through Strivers Row, an educational tour of the Schomburg Center and a night out on the town at Harlem's Sugar Shack. Hughes's Dream Harlem stars writers and appreciators of the arts such as Sonia Sanchez, Amiri Baraka, Kevin Powell, Talib Kweli, Jessica Care Moore, Ruby Dee and is narrated by Ossie Davis. Hughes' Dream Harlem takes its audience on a day in modern Harlem, narrated by three generations of writers, slam poets and arts supporters.
