Howard Hawks - San Sebastián 1972
An old 16mm film can forgotten on a shelf. In the magical darkness of an editing room a man opens the can and examines the film – dirty, twisted, very fragile – then threads it through a projector. An old man, serious, serene, observes the world around him. He is aboard a yacht, crossing a bay, a city in the background... On the side of the film can, written on camera tape: Howard Hawks. San Sebastian, 1972. Jesus Martinez Leon and Jose Luis Cuerda recall those days. Thirty years ago, they made a trip to San Sebastian to meet and interview a living legend, American filmmaker Howard Hawks. For the first time, this film includes the interview he gave them.
