Guerre sans images
This film recounts the director's return to his homeland, Algeria, after an absence of 30 years. Camera in hand, he follows photographer Michael von Graffenried, who set out to find the Algerians he had photographed between 1991 and 2000 without them knowing it, and to whom he wants to return images he feels he's stolen in a way. The camera, a witness to these reunions, tries to capture the moments of truth of these people who have everything to lose by opening up. A contradictory, complex look, reflection of a country where laughter and tears mix. A land that wants to live, to forget its tragedy and which, caught between East and West, is still in search of its identity.
