Furiani, un deuil impossible

On May 5, 1992, during the French Cup semifinals between Bastia and Marseilles, a temporary stand of the Furiani stadium collapsed. The toll was very heavy: 17 dead, nearly 2.000 wounded, 42% of whom were under the age of 17. Why make a film about Furiani 10 years later, but to wonder about an enduring malaise? To start the investigation over again, analyze the official inquiry with objectivity, give people the floor again. To talk about Furiani is to talk about the history of soccer, but also the histories of the nationalist movement, business dealings and political affairs, the love-hate relationship between the State and the population, the loss of 20 years of political illusions in the defeat of the nationalist movement and a society that refuses to take a critical look at itself.
