Façades
The Colonas are getting ready to go out to dinner with their neighbors, the Vidals. Pierrot, their 10-year-old son, will stay home alone. But that night, a masked burglar breaks into the villa and Pierrot, terrified, shoots him with his dad's shotgun. Everyone congratulates the boy for his pluck. But the Vidals realize that their 16-year-old son, Yann, hasn't come home: the "burglar" is none other than him. Wounded, Yann wanders on his stolen motorbike and finally finds shelter in an abandoned worksite. He hasn't the courage to face his parents. The next morning, the Vidals are notified that he is in the city hospital, his life hanging by a thread. The two family clash over the young boy's hospital bed. The Colonas refuse to withdraw their complaint against the "burglar." The Vidals counterattack by accusing Pierrot of attempted murder. The two families's erstwhile friendship is shattered. Worse, the families themselves are coming apart. Stories of adultery and old resentments resurface. Pierrot runs away and goes to see the hospitalized Yan. Maybe the two youths can do what the adults have failed to do: create a true bond of friendship.
