Droit d'asile
In France, during the Algerian War, Malika, who is being sought by police as a member of the Algerian Liberation Front, seeks shelter from Christine, a small town pastor, one of the first clergywomen of France's Reformed Church. Married to Jean-Daniel, she preaches ecumenism and organizes regular meetings with Paul, the priest. At first put off, Christine, who is not politically-minded, agrees to hide Malika in the bell tower. Meanwhile, Jean-Daniel is urgently looking for Christine to be with their daughter Claire, who is about to give birth. When the gendarmes turn up to search the presbytery, Malika has vanished. Christine, whose calling is to preach love of others, does everything in her power to find Malika and get her to Evian, where a pastor can smuggle her across the Swiss border.
