Die lange Reise des Reto BantliThe Long Journey of Reto Bantli
Reto Bantli was seen alive for the last time on October 24, 1997. Despite an intensive search, not the slightest trace could be found of this Swiss. His body was found four years later in a forest near Petropawlowsk, in northern Kazakstan. An autopsy report revealed that he had been murdered in 1997. Bantli had worked as long-haul truck driver for a Finnish trucking firm. He had been headed for Central Asia at the time of his disappearance. Shortly afterwards, his best friend and colleague Peter Dörig set off in search for him, following the same route Reto had taken. His search proved fruitless.
