In a women's penitentiary at Pozarevac, the inmates rehearse a play by the Serbian dramatist Branislav Nusic: Ujecz, acronym for the "Association of emancipated Yugoslav women." The play is a parody, set in the interwar years, about the relations between the members of an imaginary women's association and men. The dress rehearsal takes place in prison and the first performance at the Pozarevac cultural center, before an audience filled with families and friends of the inmates. In the film, the prisoners reveal their reasons for becoming actors, the experience they acquired working on the play, their pre-prison lives, their present and what awaits them at their release.
