Das Leben als GanzesLife as a Whole
The autobiographical memory is a fundamental part of human identity. It detains your own life as a whole, puts together sections from childhood to beeing adult and constitutes the "beeing conscious of oneself". But what happens, when you loose your rememberance gradually and entirely? When there is nothing left but scattered fear and helpless dependence in the daily life of a home for the aged? This movie about a mother tracks the pieces, the values and the possibilities of a life, tries to put together what is in continually progressive dissolution. The most incisive turning points of life - the escape from Silesia, marriage and children, divorce -produce the portrait of a life and finally form the picture of a disease similar to Alzheimer's disease.
