Ladies and Gentlemen over 65
Posit the experience of life against that of the stage - that's what Pina Bausch set out to do in with her experimental new dance theatre piece, "Kontakthof." For an entire year, she rehearsed a highly complex piece with 26 men and women, all over 65 years of age, most of whom had never set foot on a stage. Little by little, the film reveals the different phases of the mise en scene and the roles of these "actors" who must strike difficult poses and execute unusual movements. The confrontation continued backstage where the aspirations of these players struggling to overcome their physical and psychological limits come up against the reluctance of the professional actors who must come to terms with these amateurs.
