Culture, une affaire d'Etat
A rare historic journey into the heart of cultural affairs during France's Fifth Republic. From Malraux, the first-named minister of culture in 1959, to Catherine Tasca in 2002, the film takes us behind the scenes of the major events that punctuated the state policy in matters of culture: the Langlois Affair and the Cinémathèque Française, the Landowski-Boulez clash on musical reform. The building of the Pompidou Center and the extension of the Louvre, the conditions in which the Fête de la Musique was created and the policy of "cultural exception." Using archives, interviews and reminiscences, this film takes an unusual look at contemporary artistic life. A saga.
