Like a shadow play, this intimate portrait subtly reveals aspects of the complex personality of Claude Jutra through interviews with Michel Brault, Bernardo Bertolucci, Geneviève Bujold and Saul Rubinek, along with archival materials and film excerpts highlighting his life and work. An eternal rebel who rubbed shoulders with famous French filmmakers such as Truffaut, Cocteau and Rouch, Jutra was a daring and innovative filmmaker who gave Quebec and Canadian cinema some of its most critically acclaimed and best-loved works. The film shows Jutra as a sensitive soul buffeted by the world, a brilliant creator who gave himself completely to cinema.
