Chronique d'un siège
On March 31, 2002, filmmaker Samir Abdallah entered Yasser Arafat's compound in Ramallah, then under siege by the Israeli army. He came to the Moqata'a as part of a civilian aid mission to the Palestinian people, and thought, like most of his companions, that he would only spend a few hours there. He remained there more than a month, until the siege was lifted, alongside Arafat's private guard, the Palestinian fighters and the members of the civil mission, sharing in the unstable living conditions, the tensions of the flare-ups and intimidations of a military and psychological showdown. This testimony is unique, he being the only filmmaker present. Thanks to him, it is possible to truly understand the strategy of the tensions between both sides in this part of the world.
