Bernard Manciet
Poet, novelist, playwright, essayist, Bernard Manciet writes in Gascon and in French. At 80, he also gives stage readings of his poetry, accompanied by jazzman Bernard Lubat. Since the premiere of his play, "L'Enterrement à Sabres," at the Festival d'Automne in Paris, we are beginning to measure his importance and even talk about a Nobel Prize. This is a portrait of the man and an introduction to his rich, complex work, untainted by any narrow-minded regionalism, which takes us deep into the Aquitaine, where the poet's themes mingle: the Landes, the ocean, bullfighting, as well as an immigrant Iphigenia on the train platforms of Bordeaux.
