Baboesjka
An intimate portrait of the Nadezhda Semyonovna Rumyantseva, an actress who appeared on stage in the early days of the Soviet era. Her grandson, Leonid Vlasov, made this film between her 87th and 93rd birthdays. "Babushka" Rumyantseva looks back at her youth, her career and her romances, spicing her reminiscences with impassioned speeches from plays she performed! And throughout, the liqueur flows freely. Her vigor contrasts sharply with the images of an impoverished Russian countryside, which Vlasov interweaves throughout this portrait. This may in part explain why Babushka, despite her age, lets slip that she still doesn't know the meaning of human life.
