Anne Sofie von Otter - A Northern Star
Anne Sofie von Otter is one of the greatest mezzo-sopranos of her generation. In this musical journey from Stockholm to London, via Paris and Salzbourg, with a few stops along the way at her beautiful country home where she enjoys spending time with her family, Anne Sofie talks about her musical education at the Academy of Stockhom, about Vera Rosza, her teacher at London's Guild Hall, with whom she developed her vocal potential. She also recalls her first success, when she was chosen by Colin Davis to sing Cherubino in Figaro at Covent Garden. She explains her interest in understudy roles and the pleasure she takes in diversifying her repertory. A look at the life of a singer, with interviews, concert excerpts and archival footage.
