Angela Gheorghiu's Romanian Journey
The famous soprano Angela Gheorghiu returns to her native Romania for the first time to embark on a pilgrimage to the places where she grew up. She had always wanted to see the extraordinary painted churches of Bucovina, in Moldavia, and the Moldavian monasteries, which are unique in the world. Her voyage begins in Bucharest. She visits the places where, as a dazzled student, she discovered the cathedral and the beauty of Orthodox music. She meets with the Madrigal Choir and its leader, Marin Constantin. In these magnificent, history-laden landscapes, Angela Gheorghiu and Marin Constantin make a gift of their music by performing eight works specially recorded for this film.
