Allers-retour, journal d'un photographeReturn Journeys, Diary of a Photographer
In December 1998, three months after the arrest of Augusto Pinochet, Patrick Zachman, photographer for the Magnum press agency, went to Chile to do a reportage on the victims of the dictatorship and the families of the "missing." There, he came to feel that photography was not enough to recreate the emotion and complexity of the stories and testimonies he was told: "Silence is its strength, and sometimes is limitation," he said about his craft. So he decided to add movement and sound to his images, and make a film that records the victims' difficult task of remembrance.
