November 25, 2001: the fortress of Qala-I-Jangi, Afghanistan, a few miles from Mazar-I-Sharif. Several hundred foreign Taliban fighters surrender to the Northern Alliance. As they are taken from the cells to be interrogated, a prisoner throws a grenade and triggers an appalling mutiny. 4,000 Taliban prisoners clash with the forces of the Northern Alliance and American and British troops. Damien Degueldre found himself in the midst of this incredible event and filmed the fighting among the soldiers of the Alliance and the intervening American special forces. And a tragic shelling mistake. He also filmed the looting of Taliban dead by the soldiers of the Alliance and his meeting with John Walker Lindh, the American Taliban.
