Znalezc', Zobaczyc', Pochowac'To Find, to See, to Bury
The young director set off for Srebrenica, where she filmed footage that speaks for itself. We watch the exhumation of bodies, or rather the bones of victims whose identification forces families to relive the tragedy of their death. The bones, broken up and mixed with others, are hard to identify. Usually, items of clothing allow for the identification of the fathers, mothers, brothers or sons of these women whose faces are etched in pain. Jan Kaczmarek's music plays like a requiem. Watching these collective funerals, we share in the shame of this world, where pain and despair take the place of a basic human right, the right to happiness.
