The film combines the unique choreographic skills of Jiri Kylian, the intense and personal performers of NDT 3 and the vision of filmmaker Margaret Williams. The film marks Jiri Kylian's first venture into choreographing specifically for the camera. Watermark is filmed on locations (both wet and dry) around The Hague including the huge white atrium of the Town Hall. The performers described by Kylian as aged between forty and death bring a wealth of experience to the film.
