Visa pour l'oubli
This film is about two families who left France between 1956 and 1958 and who both ended up in Kazakhstan. Since they left, neither the Landais nor the Roué family could set foot back in France. For the Roués, Kazakhstan was a voluntary choice and until then return was impossible. For the Landais, historical happenstance took them east. But it was only with independence that they expressed the desire to go home. More than 40 years on, the collapse of the Soviet empire, Perestroika and the independence of Kazakhstan in 1991 allowed them to return to France. The exiles at last glimpsed an open door and the hope of going home was reborn. We follow them from Central Asia to Europe, then in France during the first six months after their arrival.
