This Winter

Four members of the military police who work as embassy guards in Beijing are completing their tour of duty. These four young men, whose ages range from 20 to 25, all work as film projectionists for the unit, and after a final outdoor screening, each soldier leaves with different plans in mind. Ren Yong is going to Tiananmen to donate blood, while Fang Lei is determined to lose his virginity. Rou Quan stands guard one last time at his former place of work, and Cai Fengcai sings at a party for ex-servicemen. Three of the young men board trains home to their respective families; the fourth remains in Beijing, to work and be with his girlfriend in a city which even after nine years still feels unfamiliar to him.
