The Russian Bride
When Natasha is chosen by Christopher through an Internet Marriage Agency, she forsakes her native Russia for a new life in London as Christopher's wife. Natasha soon discovers she is trapped in a sexless marriage to a naïve "man-child" who loves to fix old radios and is dominated by his mother, Dora. Lonely and frustrated, Natasha despairs. Then she meets Eddie : an out of work actor. He is exciting, handsome. Natasha and Eddie fall madly in love. Dora's suspicious are roused but Eddie charms her and learns that she suspects Natasha married Christopher solely in order to obtain Britain citizenship and will leave him as soon as she gets it. That night, Natasha goes to Eddie. To her surprise, she finds him in a tiny garret-penniless. Eddie apologises for not admitting his poverty beforehand. He suggests she stay in Christopher's house a while longer-to give them time to plan a future together. A few days later, during a holiday boating trip, Eddie manoeuvres the boat so that Christopher falls into the water. Eddie and Natasha watch while Christopher drowns.
