A new television series called The Pulse, to be screened on ABC sets out to take the pulse of the Australian contemporary jazz scene. The series covers ten live performances in different venues and clubs in Sydney and Melbourne where Australian jazz is finding an increasingly wide audience. Beginning in Sydney's Basement on 4 December 2000 and filming over the summer to finish at the Starfish Club on 4 february 2001, the series captures the performances of over one hundred of our finest jazz artists (in 24 different acts) in their favourite haunts.
