The life and times of Alessandro Tasca di Cuto, actor and producer. A close friend of Orson Welles, he worked with many of the great names of international cinema in a career that spanned 40 years : John Huston, Joseph Losey, Vittorio De Sica, Michelangelo Antonioni, Elisabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Humphrey Bogart. A descendant of two viceroys, Alessandro Tasca di Cuto was born in 1906 into one of Sicily's most illustrious families. But his father steadily squandered the family's considerable fortune to fulfill his Socialist ideals. By 1927, the family was ruined. Alessandro's Polish mother, a cocaine addict, died of an overdose. Alessandro moved to the United States and worked at a number of odd jobs.
