The Guguletu Seven
An ambush is expected on March 3, 1986, in Guguletu, Cape Town. Police says that they have been warned that "terrorists" will attack a police bus. The bus passes safely, however, the "terrorists" are sighted and within five minutes, seven young men lie dead. The evening news carry the police explanation that the men were so heavily armed that they were obliged to kill all of them to protect themselves. But one newspaper report the story of an eye-witness who saw one of the seven being shot with his hands up. Ten years later, after South Africa's first democratic elections, a team of young investigators for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission uncover quite another story. The unraveling of the truth behind the tragic incident is the journey of the film. Secret dockets are found lying dormant in safes and locked-up police files. Lies are uncovered, cover-ups identified and encrypted codes are broken.
