Sylvio Gualda is the greatest current percussionist of classical and contemporary music. Since his early career as solo timpanist for the Paris Opera Orchestra, he has worked at opening up the expressive possibilities of percussion, taking part in the avant-garde research of the 70s and 80s. It was not long before composers were entrusting their work to him. Today he is a fulfilled man who devotes himself as much to performing as to conducting and teaching. The young percussionists he trains at the Versailles Conservatory come from all over the world.
