Sumud
The film is a document which follows a group of Palestinian children from the Deheisha refugee camp, near Bethlehem, over a period of 13 years. In November 1978 we filmed four children on an ordinary day at the kindergarten in the camp. Ten years later, following the Oslo agreement, we returned to meet the children who had grown and were now 15 years old and still living in Deheisha camp. Three years later we returned again. All four young adults are still living in the camp throughout the most recent troubles, demonstrations and curfews. What do these young people’s lives look like today? What does the future hold for them? What are their thoughts and feelings? This film is a unique look at children growing up under occupation.
