A "stringer" is a foreign correspondent who gets paid per story. The film gives a unique insight into the everyday life of one of these war correspondents. The struggle against the bureaucraty of local authorities, the rush of adrenaline in times of action and danger, and the confrontation with the countless dead that litter the battlefields. Even thought the war between Ethiopia and Eritrea was the bloodiest in the world between 1998 and 2000, it was not a prestigious war to report from as a journalist since it was given very little media attention. Hence, its coverage was left to unskilled boys with dreams of the big adventure and ideas about manly courage. This is a documentary about the very young war correspondent permanently based in Eritrea. As stringers they have no steady income and belong to the B-team among foreign correspondent.
