Kabul, June 2001. Our crew shoots images, in secret for the most part, of the Afghan capital, revealing a people suffering in camera from the taleban regime, a regime ruling through religious decrees. Then came September 11th : the terrorist attacks which so heavily hit the United States give these images of the taleban oppressive rule an even more ominous dimension. The documentary investigation that we propose here allows us to better understand the nature of the regime sheltering the Islamic terrorist Oussama Bin Laden, suspected of having masterminded these attacks. The selected approach enabled us to touch upon the various aspects of a painful and unavoidable reality, common to more than 15 million people: schooling, religious practices, work, society, everything is under the heaviest supervision. An iron fundamentalism which Afghans and humanitarian NGO’s tried to resist as best they could. Our crew followed them in their daily underground lives.
