Sosite Otokotachiwa Nagasaki wo MitaReturn to Ground Zero
On August 9, 1945, a U.S. Air Force bomber with a six-man crew aboard dropped an A-bomb on Nagasaki. The crew and others visited the city a month later to examine the effects of their raid. Only recently has this visit received much publicity, thanks to the publication of personal memoirs. The story of the expedition is an intriguing addition to the history of Nagasaki A-bomb. What must the crew has thought as they stood amid the ruins of once-thriving port city? NHK visited the crew in the U.S. to discover how they feel today about their actions half-a-century ago. The program encourages viewvers to think afresh about the lessons to be drawn from the dropping of the A-bomb.
