Silencio

A film about desire and loss, watching and being watched, the beauty of surrender and the poetry of everyday life. Costa Rica. The center of the too hot, too busy city of San Jose. Speeding cars, pushing people, cigar-smoking pensionados, tourists, hookers, hard working family men...and 18 casinos. Each week, one joint closes down while across the street a new one is opening. Marble floors, chique but sweety personnel, strip lighting, food, drinks and cigarettes free, 24 hours round the clock, as long as you play. Betting starts at a dime, it's what everybody does here, every day, every night. With poetry, sound, stories and music, the film takes you along from place to place.
