Roland Dubillard - ébauche d'un portrait
Roland Dubillard is a major French writer whose protean work is as important as it is subtle and unclassifiable. He is a poet, dramatist, actor, scriptwriter, radio professional and essayist. The actor and dramatist enjoyed their heyday in the 50s and 60s -the wild humor and desperate nature of his vision of the world placed Dubillard in the company of Beckett and Ionesco. This film is an appealing portrait of Dubillard by one of his oldest friends, Pierre Dumayet, who since their meeting after the war has remained a privileged observer of the artist’s career. Motion picture footage and sound archives punctuate this charming foray into an artistic universe as nimble and capricious as its creator.
