Paul Sacher, portrait du mécène en musicien
Portrait of a young man of humble origins from Basle, a man who had one passion -music- and one desire: to become a conductor. This is also the portrait of a man who always knew what he wanted and seems always to have gotten it. It's the story of an arts patron, a conductor and a pharmaceuticals magnate from Basle, a man who, in his own way, served as a link between the world of art and the world of power and finance. A man whose life straddled an entire century of music and who knew how to adapt, who commissioned works from Béla Bartok, Igor Stravinsky, Richard Strauss, Arthur Honegger and many more, right into the last decade of the 20th century.
