Oscar Niemeyer, o filho das estrelasOscar Niemeyer, the Child of Stars
From 1938, Oscar Niemeyer sets out a new vision of 20th century architecture, a vision concerned with beauty and the freedom of forms. Far from the rigidity of Bauhaus functionalism, it concretizes new esthetic and engineering approaches. From the start, this cathedral and mosque builder set down the guidelines for the relationship between man and his environment. Turning his back on esthetic ideologies and schools, Niemeyer works alone, with intuition as his only principle and independence as his rule. During the film, Neimeyer, alone, both auteur and subject, talks about his life, reaffirming his unwavering prerogatives. From the building of Brasilia to his current projects, not to mention his work in exile, he simply explains architecture.
