Metropolis résonances
The composer Martin Matalon prepares the concert of the music he wrote for Metropolis by Fritz Lang. We follow him during his work in process, from the rehearsals to the final concert, taking place outside the Guggenheim Museum, in Bilbao. The composer explains us his composing methods as well as the aesthetics principals of the piece he is working on. According to the rythmic structure of the film, Martin Matalon created a counterpoint between music and image; the score try to develop all the possible connections between music and images; up from the parallelism to the total divergence. Multiplication of the different points of view of the instrumentalists who play live during the screening of the film; the camera goes from the different instrumentalists to the film, and from Guggenheim Museum to the city of Bilbao.
