Marie, mère des apparitions
For the past 1,500 years, Christian men and women claim to have seen the Blessed Virgin Mary. This documentary inquiry follows dozens of "visionaries" at two Marian pilgrimage sites, Medjugorje, in Bosnia-Herzegovina, where some 20 million Catholics have gone since 1981, and Betania, Venezuela, where the last official apparition of the 20th century was reported. Several visionaries are filmed during their visions, when they supposedly converse with the Virgin. Scientists explain what is going on in the visionary's body and mind during these trances. The film then gets the viewpoint of the Catholic hierarchy and the Vatican and learn about the surprising recognition procedures. We also follow a group of pilgrims in their spiritual quest and their craving for God's true presence.
