When Clara Greenspan left Montreal for Warsaw in June 1938, she had no inkling that her fate would henceforth depend on events which were shortly to shake Europe. This documentary, whose action is set in Canada, Poland, Russia and Germany in the years 1938-1947, draws on love letters, diary entries, family photos, official correspondence and archival footage of rare historical films. It relates a Polish Jewish refugee's struggle to survive and the unending battle conducted by his wife, who remained in Canada, to change Canadian immigration policies.
